Memorial For Bean

Last Sunday a few hundred Green Parrot aficionados turned out to pay their respects to Jim Bean. Jim was the beloved owner of The Parrot who passed away suddenly. Bean bought The Green Parrot Bar more than 25 years ago. He had a brilliant business plan, “Don’t change a thing”. Key West is a better place because of Jim Bean and The Green Parrot. Thanks Bean.

The Studio’s of Key West are producing the 4th annual edition of “One Nights Stand” this evening. We are feeding the performers. This is a highly anticipated, very cool Key West event. Sells out every year. You need to check it out. These folks know great food.

It’s Lobster Mini Season

I’m happy to report that it’s Florida Lobster Mini Season. Happy for a couple of reasons. The first is to report that our waters off the Florida Keys are pristine. Visibility is crystal clear and the bounty is plentiful. The second reason is Key West is busy with all the divers who come down every year for this event. We are grateful that the ecological disaster of our lifetime has missed us. Come on down, the waters are spectacular and so is the fishing. Pick up some sandwiches before you head out.

The Mechanical Cavalry Has Arrived

We have been struggling mightily at Cole’s Peace. Our steadfast spiral mixer threw a bearing last week and we’ve been in a real fix. You can’t make great artisan bread without a spiral mixer. Lucky for us were able to mix our Cuban bread over at Goldman’s Deli. Thanks Mark, for your generous help. Key West would be lost without it’s Cuban Bread. Our artisan breads have had to go on hiatus for the past few bakes but starting today we are BACK. Thanks to all for their understanding and thanks to are entire staff for making the best of a bad situation.
